How to take great night photographs
Taking night time shots is one of the hardest thing to perfect in photography. That is if you don’t know what you are doing. But if you understand how to take them you can take fantastic photos. On the other hand if you don’t know what you are doing it will look ugly. So here are some tips for you so you can be a better photographer at night. If you follow them you will happy at the kind of photos you take.
First of all I hate to say equipment makes a difference. In other words, you can’t expect a mere point-and-click camera to take great night shots. It just isn’t equipped enough to do that. As a San Diego wedding photographer I have had to learn that only cameras made to take photos at night will work.It doesn’t mean that you shoud have a camera that is specifically made for night shots but you should look for a camera that can shoot in the dark. This tip could be very expensive to follow. But as soon as you get over that you can take better night shots.
Second you will want to not rely on the flash. If you have the experience of taking any night shots you know what I am talking about. It is something I had to learn as a San Diego photographer not to rely on the flash.Instead, use your camera’s features and use it well. Know what your camera can do and for what circumstance. This is good for beginners since you can preprogram your camera to take better photos.
Finally use a special lens to reduce camera shake. Taking photos of many events as helped me realize the problem of camera shake. So doing San Diego event photography has helped me gain experience.I realized that certain lenses can reduce this shake. This will allow you to take crisper night time photos.
So, there you have it. If you follow these tips you are sure to take better night shots.
