Lighting is one of the most important aspects of photography. That is why you see so much money being spent on lighting equipment.Lighting can determine whether a shot woudl turn out great or bad. With the importance of lighting here are some tips to watch out for in regards to lighting.

First of all sometimes you don’t have the luxury of lighting in a studio. For example the case of weddings especially an outdoor wedding at day.In this case natural lighting is what you should utilize. As a San Diego wedding photographer I have to deal with this all the time.But it is not bad at all.Utilizing the natural lighting is what determines a photographer if he is great or not.An example would be overcast days when it is great to take outdoor shots. But if you have a bright sunny day make sure to take the photos with the sun behind you.That way you would utilize the natural lighting and it would not ruin your shot.

Events are another thing that would need lighting. Doing a lot of San Diego event photography has allowed me to see the importance of this.Especially if you would have to take pictures during the night.You must utilize your camera’s features if you need to take pictures during the night.All cameras nowadays have night modes so be sure to use them.

Taking corporate shots is another event where lighting is needed.You always want to take crisp photos when you are taking corporate shots. The best way to do that is to use artificial lighting. I use artificial lighting all the time as a San Diego commercial photographer all the time.This is not similar to wedding photography because in weddings you would usually just utilize the natural lighting provided by the sun.What’s good about these corporate shots is that they are prepared so your shots will turn out better.

So those are some tips on becoming a better photographer through lighting.Remember that lighting is important and it would lead to you taking great shots.
