Photography Business: Photography Defined
Photography is an art and a science, it is highly practical or functional and purely aesthetic, it all depends to what use we put it. Many businesses (like home photography business) depend on photography and the entire written media is supported by photo materials of events. People’s access to information would be incomplete without photography and everything that it brings. Other than this one major application of photography, people take pictures because they like it and they can.
The start of photography can be tracked back to the camera obscura’s discovery in the antiquity. For a long period of time, photography depended on films for the image forming device. In comparison with digital technologies, the film, as recording medium is considered obsolete. A latent image is created on the film, and then it becomes usable when processed chemically in the studio.
We can hardly mention all the uses of photography for such long lists. Together with the recorded videos of a certain event, pictures provide highly reliable scientific evidence. There are military, archaeological, forensic, data storage and geographical applications for photography, and these are the largest and most extensively used. Identity control and personal documents require photos. Other than these official applications, there is the entertainment side of photography that can’t be ignored.
All mobile phones have incorporated photo cameras, and the pictures we take can be immediately uploaded on the Internet with the possibility to access the world wide web from the cell phone. And we want to use photography to capture special moments and turn them into memories. There is no wedding or baptism without video recording and photo shooting. We never go traveling or on vacation without at least one camera, and these are just very basic examples of how we use photography for very current purposes.
There is one other side of this photography that is, in a sense, less of a photography business, but this falls into the realm of art… and there is hardly anything commercial about it. Photographers with international recognition have photography exhibitions in famous art galleries. They are invited to commemorate events, support shows or just give expression to a feeling, an opportunity, an occasion that would otherwise be lost for good. Artistic photos contradict everything that is either commercial or practical: their sole purpose is just to express and delight in an artistic way.
