The Canon 550D EOS features an expanded ISO range that makes shooting possible in situations previously unthinkable without flash. With an ISO rating up to 6400 (expandable to ISO 12800), along with the DIGIC 4 Image Processor’s improved noise-reduction technology, creative possibilities abound. Combine the Canon 550D EOS/EOS Rebel T2i with one of Canon’s EF or EF-S lenses with Optical Image Stabilizer and the shooting possibilities for both movies and stills expand even further.

Designed for the evolving, tech-savvy user, the Canon 550D EOS/EOS Rebel T2i features HD Video capture technologies–manual exposure control for more creative control, for example–borrowed directly from professional Canon SLRs to capture stellar video with all the benefits of shooting with an SLR. By shooting video with the Canon 550D EOS/EOS Rebel T2i, photographers as well as filmmakers can take advantage of the creative features native to SLR cameras. Along with its manual controls, the Canon 550D EOS/EOS Rebel T2i allows for full use of Canon EF and EF-S lenses, including Macro and Fisheye, providing a plethora of shooting options once reserved only for still photography. The resulting HD recording is a standout in its graceful depth-of-field characteristics and important getting capability under bad lighting conditions. In a first for EOS cameras, a Movie Crop function is included: An SD-quality movie (640 x 480) can be cropped to the equivalent of about 7x magnification of regular shooting.

HD Video is extraordinary but also comes with caveats. You can’t treat this equivalent a camcorder where you transfer the camera on, bushel, bourgeon and whizz inaccurate. The Canon 550D EOS camera will allow you to autofocus while videoing but, depending on the lens, there may be some searching of the lens or some “knocking” as the AF finely adjusts before it locks. While this is occurring the microphone will pick up the lens motion (with a USM lens this isn’t that bad but it is noticeable), but worse is that in a low light situation, the picture will be brightened *on the video as its recorded* to assist the autofocus. Also note there’s no image stabilizer so every foot step shows up. For that reason you have to think a little bit about the shot heavenward of period (IE autofocus or manually set the lighting forwards of time before beginning recording). Zooming is about as smooth as you can turn your wrist (and suddenly the 17-55′s infamous zoom dead space becomes a big issue!). Note also that you’re narrow to 12 transactions of recording at a quantify. Microphone property is fantabulous for what it is. It is advisable to buy, especially for pro photographer.
